Fiberglass repair is not the same as bodywork on a metal panel. You can't knock it out, fill it, and sand it flat. The material has to be built back in layers — resin, mat, surface coat — and each layer has to cure correctly before the next one goes on.
Most general auto body shops avoid it because the learning curve is steep and the margin for visible error is zero. A fiberglass repair that's 90% right stands out every time the sun hits it at the right angle. We do this work because RV repair requires it — a large percentage of every RV exterior is fiberglass.
Most shops don't touch fiberglass. We specialize in it — because we have to. It's what RVs are made of.

RV Fiberglass Delamination Repair
Delamination
Delamination: What It Is and What It Takes to Fix
Fiberglass RV walls are a sandwich: an outer fiberglass skin, a foam or wood substrate in the middle, and an inner wall panel. Delamination happens when the outer skin separates from the substrate — usually because moisture infiltrated the wall structure and broke down the adhesive bond between layers.
The affected area loses structural rigidity and becomes soft, wavy, and hollow-sounding. Repair involves removing the skin, drying and replacing the substrate, and rebonding or replacing the fiberglass skin. We assess the full extent before estimating — delamination frequently extends further than the visible surface damage suggests.
Rear & Front Caps
Rear Cap and Front Cap Repair
Rear cap cracks are common on higher-mileage Class A rigs — full replacement is one of the larger fiberglass jobs we perform. Front cap damage typically comes from collision impact. Both are within our regular scope of work.
RV Gelcoat Repair and Color Matching San Antonio
Gelcoat matching on aged fiberglass means matching the current weathered surface — not just the original factory spec. A repair that matches what's on the rig should disappear into the surrounding material, not stand out as a fresh patch.
We mix to what's actually on the rig. Every fiberglass repair that requires surface finishing is completed in our dedicated paint booth with matched gelcoat or paint under controlled conditions.
Airstream Fiberglass Repair in San Antonio
We handle Airstream fiberglass repair in San Antonio for both fiberglass-bodied Airstream units and classic aluminum-bodied trailers. For fiberglass models, we match gelcoat to the current weathered state of the surface — not just the original factory spec. For aluminum models, we work the metal back to form and maintain the rivet pattern. Airstream owners have high expectations for finish quality, which is exactly the standard we hold ourselves to.
Our Fiberglass Repair Process
Our RV Fiberglass Repair Process in San Antonio
1
Assessment
We start with a hands-on inspection — probing for delamination beyond the visible surface, checking the substrate behind the damage, and determining whether the crack is a stress fracture, impact damage, or delamination. The cause determines the repair, not just the visible symptom.
2
Written Estimate
You receive a written, itemized estimate covering materials, labor, and any surface finishing or paint matching. No work begins without your authorization.
3
Structural Repair First
All substrate and structural work happens before any surface repair. We don't apply new fiberglass over compromised material.
4
Finish and Final Inspection
We build the fiberglass in layers at the correct cure rate, finish with matched gelcoat or paint in our dedicated booth, and inspect the completed repair under raking light. If it doesn't pass, it doesn't leave the shop.
