Beyond Repair — Time to Replace

Signs Your RV Roof Needs Full Replacement

Not every roof problem can be patched. When damage reaches these levels, continued patch repairs cost more over time than a proper full replacement. These are the signs that tell us — and you — that it's time.

Know When Replacement Is the Right Answer

Make the Right Call

Repair or Replace? Here's How We Decide

We never push replacement when repair is the right answer — and we never recommend another patch job when the roof has reached the end of its life. Here's exactly how we think about that decision after inspection.

Bent, Broken, or Loose Arm

Save money — fix the specific problem

Replacement Is Right When…

Stop paying for patch jobs — get a fresh start

Not sure which side you're on? That's what the inspection is for. We look at everything and give you an honest answer — in writing.

What Actually Happens

How RV Roof Replacement Works — What You Should Expect

Most RV owners have never seen a full roof replacement. Here's what a proper job actually involves — because shortcuts at any stage come back as leaks, rot, and repeat repairs.

Step 1 — Tear-Off & Substrate Inspection

The old membrane comes off completely. We inspect every inch of the wood decking for soft spots, rot, and moisture damage before anything new goes down. Any compromised structure gets replaced — we won't build a new roof on a rotten foundation.

Step 2 — Membrane Installation & Bonding

New membrane is cut, bonded, and trimmed to fit your specific RV. EPDM is adhered with contact cement and rolled out air-free. TPO seams are heat-welded for a watertight bond. Fiberglass is laid up and gel-coated to original spec. Every edge is secured before sealant goes on.

Step 3 — Penetration Sealing & Final Check

Every penetration — AC units, vents, antennas, skylights — is reinstalled and sealed with fresh lap sealant. We do a final walkover before returning your rig. A new roof is only as good as the detail work at every joint and penetration point.

Why RV Owners Choose Class A RV Repairs

What Makes Our Replacements Different

Substrate Inspection Included

We don't install a new roof over hidden rot. Every replacement includes a full substrate inspection at tear-off. If we find damage, we photograph it, call you, and get your approval before touching anything else.

RV-Only Specialist Shop

Not a general roofing contractor. Not a dealership. RVs exclusively since 1993. The tools, materials, and techniques are different from home roofing — and we've only ever done it the RV way.

No Surprises at Pick-Up

Full scope quoted before work starts. If additional damage is found after tear-off, you get a call with photos — not a surprise bill when you arrive. Every dollar approved in advance.

Written Completion Report

Every replacement comes with a written completion report documenting what was found, what was replaced, and what was installed — plus a maintenance schedule for your specific roof material and Texas climate.

30+ Years of RV Roofs

We've replaced roofs on Class A, B, and C motorhomes, fifth wheels, and travel trailers since 1993. We've seen every failure mode, every shortcut attempt, and every material combination. That experience protects you.

Family-Owned & Accountable

When the owner has their name on the shop, the work has to hold up. Customers bring multiple rigs over the years because they know the replacement we did five years ago is still solid. That's the standard.

What RV Owners Say

What RV Owners Say About Our Work

GT

Gary & Pam T.

"Dometic 8500 fabric was shredded after a wind storm near Bandera. Called Monday, dropped off Tuesday, picked up Thursday with a brand new re-wrap. Arms were in good shape so they just did the fabric. Saved us a lot of money vs. replacing the whole unit."

WL

Wayne L.

"Electric Carefree awning wouldn't retract — button did nothing. Two shops told me I needed a full replacement. Class A diagnosed it as a bad motor capacitor. $140 repair, in and out same day. Still working fine six weeks later."

RV

Ron & Linda V.

"Got a written estimate before any work started — appreciated that. One arm was bent from a low-clearance situation. They straightened it, re-tensioned the spring, and it works like new. Fair price and totally honest shop."

MS

Mark & Donna S.

"Lippert Solera power awning wasn't extending all the way. They found a stripped gear in the motor assembly. Ordered the part, repaired in 2 days. These guys clearly know RV systems — they weren't guessing at all."

AB

Alan B.

"Water was pooling in the center of the awning every time it rained. Classic torsion spring issue. They adjusted the pitch and replaced the spring. Fixed permanently. Wish I'd brought it in two years ago — that pooling was stressing the arm bracket."

CM

Cindy & Dave M.

"Full replacement on a 2009 Class A with original Dometic awning — roller was bent and both arms were compromised. They sourced a matching replacement, installed, and tested it fully. Honest about why repair didn't make sense. Five stars all the way."

Who's Installing Your New Roof

Family-Owned. RV-Only. Roofing Since 1993.

Class A RV Repairs has been replacing RV roofs since before EPDM was the industry standard membrane. We've watched materials evolve — from aluminum panels to rubber, from rubber to TPO — and we've installed all of them. Thirty-plus years means we've seen what lasts and what doesn't in Texas conditions specifically.

1993 — Where It Started

Mobile RV repair operation across Central Texas — building the reputation and the knowledge base that every roof replacement today is built on.

2003 — Permanent Facility Opens

Permanent facility in Pipe Creek, TX. The space and equipment to properly replace roofs on full-size Class A motorhomes — not a parking lot job.

Today — Still Family-Owned

Same ownership, same standards. The roofs we installed a decade ago are still the reference point for how the work should look and hold up in Texas heat.

"We've never installed a roof over hidden rot and called it done. That's not a policy — it's how you sleep at night when your name is on every job."

Common Questions

RV Roof Replacement — Frequently Asked Questions

EPDM rubber roof replacement typically runs $2,000–$5,000 for a standard motorhome. TPO $2,500–$6,000. Fiberglass restoration $4,000–$10,000+. These ranges cover the membrane, installation, penetration resealing, and substrate inspection — but don't include additional rot repair found after tear-off. Written quote before work starts.
Replacement is right when: you have multiple active leaks, membrane cracking covers more than 30% of the surface, you have significant substrate rot in multiple areas, or you've already repaired this roof twice. Repair is right when damage is isolated and the rest of the membrane is in good shape. We inspect first and tell you honestly — we never push replacement when repair is the right answer.
Most standard motorhome roof replacements take 3–5 business days. Larger rigs or those with significant substrate rot take longer. We confirm the timeline at scheduling and update you if anything changes after tear-off. We don't rush a roof job.
We photograph every area of rot or damage found, call you immediately with documentation, and provide an updated quote before proceeding. No surprise charges at pick-up — every dollar approved by you in advance. We will never install a new roof over compromised structure.
Both work well in Texas. TPO has better UV resistance and longer lifespan (15–20 years vs 10–20 for EPDM) but costs slightly more upfront. EPDM is the most common replacement material and works well with proper annual maintenance. We walk you through both options before you decide — no upselling.
A properly installed EPDM rubber roof lasts 10–20 years with maintenance. TPO typically 15–20 years. In Texas, plan for annual inspections and resealing every 1–2 years on EPDM, every 2–3 years on TPO. We provide a written maintenance schedule with every replacement so you know exactly what to do and when.
Yes — we always inspect and diagnose the leak source first. Sometimes what looks like a replacement scenario is a single failed seam that can be repaired. We tell you honestly what we find. If repair makes sense, we repair it. If the roof has reached end-of-life, we say so — and explain exactly why.
Yes. We assess interior water damage during tear-off and quote repairs separately. This includes rotted decking, damaged wall framing, ceiling liner replacement, and delamination repair. Interior damage is always quoted and approved before work begins — it's never bundled in without your knowledge.
Yes — and it's one of the best investments you can make. A pre-purchase inspection finds hidden roof damage, substrate rot, and signs of past water intrusion that sellers often don't disclose. Several of our replacement customers found issues that let them renegotiate the sale price or walk away from a bad deal.
Yes. We stand behind our installation workmanship. Ask our team about specific warranty terms at the time of your quote. The manufacturers of the membrane materials we use also carry their own material warranties. A roof we installed five years ago should still be solid — that's the standard we work to.
